Owls are fascinating animals that have always attracted the attention of humans. Already in the Upper Paleolithic, the figure of the owl was represented in very different forms, from statuettes, drawings, ceramics to wood carvings. In ancient Greece it was considered the sacred animal of the goddess Athena and was a symbol of wisdom and knowledge. By extension it became the symbol of the city of Athens.
In the 19th century the German philosopher Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel adopted it as a symbol of Philosophy.
